CAMPING

Wednesday some girls in my ward and I went up to one of my friends cabin. We had a great time and it was really nice to enjoy nature and get to know people better. My friend Jake who's cabin we went to created names for my friends because he couldn't remember their real names. The girls names were Whitney and Johannah but Jake wanted to remember them as A&W or Anika and Wendy. It was quite the trip and my family was able to meet the crazy guys I had been with for the past day. :)

We went fishing this morning and on the way home the guys asked me to call my mom and see if she would cook anything for us. I did so and little did I know my mom had a whole feast for us. She made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, banana bread, and scrambled eggs. She truly is an amazing women and the guys loved her. They thought she was a way cool mom. Little did I know they called my mom and tried to beat me to my house. They told her not to tell me but she is a good mother and did. Eric and I went to go meet them somewhere because we thought they were lost but they were just playing a joke on us. When we came back I walked in and saw Jake was holding my nephew as if it was his own. It was so funny and my mom and sister found great entertainment from it.

Previously Jake had taken Erics camera and was taking random pictures of everything possible. He gave the camera to my sister and had her tell everyone that my family wanted a picture of them, I was confused and asked Brittany if she got a new camera then Eric was like, hey that looks like my camera, it has a dent in that same place. Eric soon found out that it was his camera and began to run after the other guys. They were too fast and so they had the camera once again. It was quite the trip and I am grateful to have such a wonderful mother and sister who would play along with jokes. Eric still hasn't gotten the camera back but it was quite entertaining for everyone. Enjoy the family picture. (Jake is the one holding my nephew in the middle)

TEXAN. Yep thats right, I got my mission call and I am going to the Texas Lubbock Mission. I leave July 8th and will be serving the Lord for the next 18 months. What an exciting time. I will add my address a little later so you all can write me.

Yep that's right. I put my mission papers and I would like you all to guess where you think I will be serving the Lord for the next year and a half. My availability is June 1st and my stake president said I could get my call as early as next Thursday the 30th. This is a very exciting time and I want to share it with all you . Steph Thompson (Lake) came down from Idaho and during the Priesthood Session of Conference we decided to go shopping. Little did we know it would turn into a dress up night. Even though we are older than little girls. We are still little girls are heart who love to play dress up. We were lucky enough to have Kaylie my little sister come and take all the pictures for us. I know we look dumb but I suggest that everyone do it some time in their life no matter how old. We tried on about 20 dresses all together and some of them were a pain to get on. We really tried to match but what a fun time we had. Like I said before everyone NEEDS to do this AGAIN for a girls night.

So I know it has been a while since I last blogged but I felt like it was necessary especially since I have so much to blog about. To start, I am still in school planning to become a nurse. (someday :))I will apply for the nursing program next January so I still have some time. I am still doing special Olympics and loving every minute of it. You learn so much from those around you and I have been able to appreciate people more. My job at the hospital is great and I am learning something new everyday.

Now for my trip to Moab. Me and my roommates decided for spring break we were going to go to Moab since two of us hadn't ever been. It was so beautiful and I can say I have now seen the arch on the Utah license plates. :) We went to Delicate Arch as well as Landscape Arch and the hikes were both gorgeous. I definitely want to go back to hippie ville. :) Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Special Olympics

So These past couple of months, I have been volunteering as a coach for the Special Olympics. It is one of those things that I can't really explain my feeling about fully but I do know that it is such a blessing in my life to be able to help out. I have even gotten a gold medal. I told my parents that it might be the only time that I will get a gold medal in my life. :) I helped out with bocce ball which is kind of like croquet but only you throw the balls and I have also helped out with swimming. I am able to be a unified player which means that there are two athletes who are disabled and then there are coaches or volunteers. I have learned so much from these people. They have helped me see that the only things that really matter are that you are trying your best and are having an enjoyable time. They don't care about winning, of course they want to but it isn't like it is the end of the world like it is for me and others at times. They are such great people to follow who are truly like Christ. I hope one day I will be able to be as forgiving and loving as they are. They are truly unique and amazing people. So I know I haven't updated this blog for quite some time so this will be short but I will hopefully add pictures later this week. All that is going on life right now is that I am working still as a CNA. I love what I do and I continue to learn many things daily. I am going to school right now and doing pre-reqs for nursing. Life is truly wonderful and I am planning on going a mission hopefully leaving in May. I will keep you all informed. I am so grateful for the many wonderful blessings I have been given in life. This past weekend Cameron got married to Rachelle and it was a wonderful experience to be around family and see another one of my siblings get married in the Temple. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to have my family so close and the support they are to me. Like I said, life is truly wonderful and I continue to see blessing daily.

School Starting Again!!!

So I know I haven't posted anything for a long time but I have the excuse that I have been very busy. During the summer I took a CNA class and started a job in South Davis at the Community Hospital. I changed my major to nursing so now I am trying to finish some pre-reqs before I can apply to nursing school hopefully in Decemeber. Life is wonderful and I am grateful for all the moments I have had while being a college student and still being a college student. I moved to a house and I am loving it. I am living with some great girls and I am really starting to develop wonderful friendships with them. As for the boys because I know you are all wondering, the answer is, is that there aren't any boys for right now but I am not letting it get me down. I am enjoying singlehood right now. Life is GReAt!!!

So this past weekend, Alissa Randall (Haines) got married. Our family decided to drive and see the wedding as well as Jen's family since they were driving down from Idaho. We really had a great time and it was great to be around family. The day was wonderful and the temple was beautiful. I am so grateful for my family and the opportunity I have to spend time with them. I am truly blessed.

Camping Trip Continued

So this was the ridge that we had to cross. This was on the other side (when I got across) and a view from the top to the bottom of the ridge with the drop offs. I guess you can call me crazy or a daredevil trying to overcome my fears. The picture of me with the amazing background was at the top of the ridge. I guess I am crazy. :)

First Camping Trip of the Summer

So a group of my friends and I decided last minute to go on a camping trip in Southern Utah. The guy to girl ratio was 3 girls and 5 guys so that means each girl had a guy. :)Don't worry mom, I will be safe. :) The weather was perfect and we really had a great time. As you can tell from the pictures, there was cactus and they were beautiful. There was other flowers that were just as pretty as the cactus. We went on a hike on Saturday and let me just say, it was one of the scariest things I have ever done. There was a part where we had to do some tunneling, and cross a ridge that had a drop off of 200 ft on one side and 1000 ft on the other side. When you are one that doesn't like heights, it is hard for you to enjoy it. Once I got to the other side of the ridge I was okay and able to take pictures. The view was amazing and I really had a great time. At the beginning of the hike, we went to a spot that had some water. Knowing myself I knew something would happen to me. I was trying to get to the other side and I didn't reach the guys hand fast enough and slipped into the pond. The water was brown and came up to the top of my stomach. So for the rest of the hike I was in wet jeans but I still made the hike enjoyable. I have learned that I love camping and hiking. Camping makes me grateful for nature and the beautiful world God has given to me.

So this past weekend, I had the wonderful opportunity to get my wisdom teeth out. Let me tell you, I think I might have lost some wisdom. :) My face didn't really get that puffy but it had its moments where is hurt. At work, one of the kids came up and hit my checks and let me tell you, that wasn't the most enjoyable thing in the world. The surgery went well but I got in trouble from my mom on the way home because I decided to talk on the phone. (you aren't supposed to do that right after you get your wisdom teeth out.) My recovery went very well and I only bruised a little. Don't worry, I had a smile on my face the whole time. (like always) The first picture is before I got my teeth out and the second was at home after the surgery. I was trying my hardest to smile. The last picture is one of my favorites because it shows that I really did look like a chipmunk. Let me just say, I have dreamed of looking like a chipmunk but doesn't everyone. More than anything, I am grateful my parents were there to take care of me because otherwise I would've been a wreck. Thanks mom and dad.

Temple Square

I love being close to temple square. This past Sunday, the weather was amazing so a group of my friends went and walked around temple square. I am the person that always has the camera because I love pictures. (people do get sick of taking all the pictures. but oh well) Kaylie came down and spent the weekend with me and it was nice, I don't know how much she liked the single ward experience. :) (She is only a maimaid.:)

We Are Family...

Jennifer and her family were able to come down the week before conference weekend and the week of conference. It was so nice to spend time with family and be with one another. Grandpa and Grandma Smith and Spencer came down for the blessing of Hallie (Melissa's baby). I love the picture with Grandpa and Grandma Smith reading to the great-grandkids, it is a priceless picture. When we were kids, we had a picture where we were sitting on my dad's back and so we had to re-live the moment. Don't worry it wasnt us adults it was the grandkids. :).

MORE TIME ON MY HANDS

So since I have more time on my hands because of school being done, I can update this more regularly. I love being able to spend time with family and this past weekend, I went down to Springville and saw the BYU dancers with my parents and grandparents. We were able to see a Sister missionary who served in Nebraska who is now on the BYU dance team. She actually gets to go to China for the opening of the Summer Olympics. The picture with me and my dad is my favorite because it shows how a like we are.(he will probably get mad because I put that picture up) Some of the other pictures are of me and Brittany riding on the scooters. I remember when they were so cool and Brittany and I are still kids so it works out great. We had a lot of fun but of course, all the family thought we were the biggest dorks.

Easter 2008

One of the greatest blessings I have recieved in the past year is having my family so close. I have really began to have more appreication for them and enjoyed spending many holidays with them. I am so grateful that I have such good parents to lead and guide me in the right directions. They are some of my best friends and greatest strengths. I am so grateful also for such a wonderful family with siblings who love me no matter what. I love being able to spend times with my nieces and nephews and see them grow with their different personalities. I know that I am their favorite aunt without any question. :)

I am so grateful for the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. He is such a great example and without His help, I don't think I would be where I am today. This gospel is amazing and I am so blessed to be apart of it.

LIFE

So I have been a little busy with school, work, and all those fun things in life. I decided since I had some free time and good news I would share it. First of all, I have a new niece, her name is Hallie Sage and she was born on the 12th. I love having babies around as many of you know. Second exciting thing to happen to me is that I have changed my major to Nursing and I am really excited. I will start the nursing program hopefully in Fall 2009. Third is that I am almost done at the Business College. Life is great and for all your questions you might have about a boy, there isn't one. Sorry for the disappointment. :)

Roommate Christmas

So as roommates we decided we wanted to have a Christmas for each other and draw names. I gave one of my roommates a movie along with a bowl of candy, drinks, and chips. I got from my roommate the movie Clifford with Martin Short. I also got a dinosaur to go along with it and I was thrilled out of my mind. I wanted the movie for a while so that became one of my favorite gifts. If you have not seen that movie, you need to!!! My other roommate got a shirt and the last roommate which gave me Clifford got 100 cookie cutters so we will be able to have all different shapes of sugar cookies. I love my roommates and are grateful for them and the examples they are to me.

Christmas Break

Well I know it has been forever since I last posted something. I decided that I would post something so I could stop being harassed about updating my blog. I was able to go to my parents house in Springville for about a week and a half. It was nice to be with all the family and be able to keep the traditions alive. We played many games like usual and my mom cooked amazingly like she always does. Carly, Kaylie, and I also acted out the Nativity down by temple square a couple weeks before. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be with family and for Christ and being able to remember him during this Holiday season. I am grateful for all the things I have been given and I think once you get older, you begin to appreciate things more. I am truly grateful for everything. Thanks to everyone that helped me out through this year and Happy New Year!!!!!

Fall Pictures

So everyone was bothering me about not writing on my blog very much but the excuse I have been telling them is that is that I am a busy college student. So now I have time and I will add pictures for the enjoyment of everyone. :) Two weeks ago I decided I wanted to take pictures of the leaves changing colors before they were all gone. I had my chance and it was so great. We went to Memory Grove Park and it was amazing. It reminded me of the leaves in Nebraska but I do have to say that I don't think they were as good here in Salt Lake because Nebraska leaves have a special meaning in my life. :) Other than that, life is going great and I love my job and the weather here in Utah. I only wish it would stay this nice.

My New Niece- Rachel's Baby Blessing

On Labor Day weekend, my newest niece, Rachel was blessed in Nampa, Idaho. She is so cute and it was great to spend time with my family. All the family slept outside in tents, everyone but my sisters family and me. I loved seeing all the expressions on my nieces and nephews faces, they are so fun. I love being with family. The day of the blessing, we took family pictures after church, it was the first time in about a year that the whole family was together. I love the picture with all the cousins and the one with Madeline laying in the grass, they are all so cute.

Nebraska 2007

In July, Me, Brittany and Steven (Brittany's husband) went back to Nebraska for Tasha Mar's wedding. We left on a Friday and returned on Tuesday( so it was a really short trip). Lindsay Font came back to Utah with me and we had a great time. On the way back, we got tomagotchi's, yes that is right. It brought us back to our childhood days. :) Although it was a long drive back, we had fun seeing the people there. I loved being with all the girls again, what great fun we had. I was amazed at how much the Holmes Lake Ward has changed. I only new about half the people in the ward. I couldn't believe how big kids got in just a year. It was good to go back one last time and see my house, elementary school, and high school. It was a little hard saying goodbye to my home but I love having my family out here only an hour away.

It has been a while since I last added something so I figured I should add things that tell abot my life right now for the summer. A lot of these pictures are of my dad and my niece and nephew. It is so nice to have my parents here in Utah so I can visit them whenever I want. You don't really understand how important your parents are to you until you have actually had the chance to see what life is like by yourself. I think for this blog I will just express all my gratitude for my amazing parents. They have helped me through everything and I love that I am able to spend time with them when I want now that they are here in Utah. I also love that I can be with my niece, Morgan and nephew, Jackson when I want. It is such a great blessing. I love my family!!!! One of the pictures I love the most is the one with my nephew with his arms behind his back. Oh he is so cute. I love all these pics especially the one with my dog and me. Max is pretty amazing!!!!

CANCUN MEXICO- JUNE 2007

Well as many people know I went to Cancun for a week with family and we had a lot of fun. We went for my grandma's birthday. I was so used to getting what ever I wanted while I was there that it is weird to be back and only get what I make instead of having others make it for me. :)The beach was beautiful and it was very nice to be with family. Well, I official move into my apt. on the 14th of this month and I start my job at Desert Book in which I am really excited. It has really been a blessing how everything has worked into play here.
